Who would disagree with our view that the Douro is the world’s most beautiful vineyard area? This is Vale de Malhadas, deep in the Douro Superior, taken at 10.00 AM Sunday morning.
This vineyard belongs to my brother Dom, my cousin Rupert and me. The fruit goes to Graham’s and this morning Dom and I went with Antonio Filipe to check on the picking of the Touriga Franca. The young vines (3 to 5 year old) and the Barroca here have suffered a bit from the lack of rain and the heat, but the Roriz and the Franca are looking really great. – Paul
