Rupert was here first thing this morning to see how things are getting on. When he stays in the Malvedos house, which is often during the harvest, we expect to see him regularly and suppose that it is part of his morning routine to look in on us and say goodmorning.
Today Rupert was with Bruno Prats, our partner in the Chryseia Douro DOC wine project. Before they set off by boat to look at Quinta de Roriz, we tasted the Barroca that was just finished and is now in one of the large oak tonels in the lower part of the winery.
At this early stage the wine has an opaque purple colour, intense jammy aromas and the characteristic structure and powerful long finish of Barroca.
